I started my candlemaking business out of a passion for creating meaningful products, not just selling candles. This work became a form of therapy for me during difficult times. The journey has brought creativity, challenges, and personal growth. As I gained experience, I felt inspired to share my story, which led to this blog. Here, I aim to offer insight into my business and the reasons behind starting this blog.

How It All Began
Candlemaking started as a hobby. I have always loved candles and often spent a significant amount on them, so I decided to make my own. I enjoyed creating items that bring warmth and comfort to a space. My first candles were simple, but they sparked a lasting interest in the craft. I spent hours experimenting with waxes, scents, and moulds. The process was both relaxing and rewarding, and soon friends and family began requesting my candles. Turning my hobby into a business felt like a natural progression, though it brought new challenges. I learned to source quality materials, price products appropriately, and manage orders efficiently. Each candle became a project, and every batch taught me patience and precision.

The Creative Process Behind Each Candle
Each candle I make tells a story. From selecting the right wax to blending scents, the process combines art and science. I prefer natural soy wax for its clean burn and longevity. Scent selection is a favourite step, as I blend essential and fragrance oils to create unique combinations that evoke memories or moods.
Candle design is equally important. Candle design is equally important. I experiment with colours, shapes, and containers to ensure each piece is distinctive. Occasionally, I add dried flowers or herbs for a natural accent, though I am cautious due to fire risk. This attention to detail makes my candles unique and personal. My favourite designs include candle bouquets and jar candles topped with flowers. Running a small candlemaking business brings challenges. Balancing creativity with business demands is significant. Managing inventory, shipping, and customer service requires strong organisational and time management skills, but has been invaluable. Listening to customers has helped me improve my products and services. For instance, I adjusted scent formulas to be more subtle after learning some were too strong for specific spaces. Also, working in government, specifically in health, I prioritise my clients' health and well-being.
Marketing was another area I needed to address. My goal was to reach people who value handmade, thoughtful products without being overly promotional. Since I am passionate about my primary profession, I initially viewed my candle business as a hobby that helped clients make their events and celebrations memorable. In 2025, I focused on my primary career and achieved my goals. This year, I am committed to elevating my candlemaking business. This blog supports that effort by connecting with readers interested in candlemaking or learning more about the craft.
I starteI started this blog to share more than just products. I wanted to discuss the process, challenges, and passion behind the business. This space allows me to offer candlemaking techniques, business tips, and personal stories. Here helps me connect with a community of makers and customers who value authenticity. It also allows me to document my journey and stay motivated. Sharing knowledge and experiences is rewarding, and I hope it encourages others to explore their own creative paths.
